WILLA MAC focuses primarily on Finnish modern art. However,
the museum has a small collection of primitive art and a very
limited collection of traditional art as well as a few works
of graphic art. While acquiring the collections, great emphasis
has been put on strong, integrated artistic themes as well
as the artistic values of the individual items. The collection
contains works of art from promising young artists as well
as from established artists. The works form harmonious groups
and they are suitable for public presentation.
The collections consist of over 800 works of art, mainly
unique Finnish paintings from the 1980s to the present day.
Although extensive already, the collections will continue
to be increased and developed in the future. The specific
era and the geographical area will provide a very good opportunity
to seriously present the art of this sector. Because the museum
can display also works of less known art and artists it has
an excellent chance of giving a broad and versatile view to
this specific era in Finnish visual arts.
